What's going on this Bank Holiday near me?

Bank Holiday is just around the corner so I thought it would be worth adding a nice number of cheap, fun family days out in and around South Yorkshire. Scroll down and check out each locations events, plenty to see and do and mostly all FREE.

Rotherham

We love the Tropical Butterfly house in Anston. We are season pass holders and certainly get our moneys worth, as the fantastic place just keeps expanding each year, and each event gets better and better. This May the theme is Enchanted Fairy Forest and runs 25 May 2019 - 02 Jun 10am - 5.30pm Dressing up is highly recommended as there are some lovely photo opportunities throughout the park. Entry to the Butterfly house is, however I do recommend looking into an annual pass if you can afford it, because you get your money back in three visits! Although the food in the main cafe is very good, I also recommend packing a picnic as there is a lovely picnic area with hammocks and out door games for the kids to play while you soak up the sun. Adults £13.75, Seniors Students Children (2-15yrs) £12.50, Under 2yrs FREE

Leopold Square in Sheffield on a warm Saturday afternoon is simply brilliant, you could be anywhere abroad. We love to go as a family and have something to eat outside a cheeky beer and soak up the sun and watch the free live music that play frequently. My son loves it and as a toddler would dance around to the music and try to get in the water! This Bank Holiday weekend on Saturday 25th of May they have Swing town Cats on from 2pm until 4.30pm I highly recommend a visit to the square for a Free cool festival vibe.

Doncaster

Free Steam Punk weekend! I was fortunate enough to land in Filey North Yorkshire when their annual Steam Punk weekend was on and I have to say it was fantastic. The people and the clothing you see are just incredible, there was so many people having the photograph taken and everyone was fascinated to see hundreds of people in very, very different attire. It was a real eye opener and I am sure there will plenty to see this weekend in Doncasters Wool Market from 10am until 5pm on Saturday and 10am until 4pm Sunday.

A huge range of Steam Punk stalls and a fashion show showcasing some of the most incredible outfits, creativity and style you will have seen. Plus Tea Duelling !
